Fit, Finish and Fun

Throughout our design and manufacturing process, our aim is to craft high-quality furniture that brings joy and encourages play and imagination in kids. We leverage computer technology for the machining of each furniture part to ensure a precise fit during assembly. Additionally, we dedicate time and effort to the careful hand sanding and finishing of each furniture piece, recognizing that this step is crucial to achieving the exceptional quality we demand for our furniture. This commitment results in durable, beautifully crafted items that inspire creativity and exploration in children's play spaces.

Baltic Birch Plywood

Our furniture is crafted from furniture-grade Baltic Birch plywood, a favorite material of furniture makers for its exquisite beauty, exceptional durability, and remarkable resistance to warping. Thanks to its inviting warm tones and distinctive grain patterns, Baltic Birch plywood is a perfect choice for creating our contemporary and Scandinavian-inspired furniture pieces. Additionally, the minimal use of fillers in the plies allows for the edges to be finely sanded and finished, enhancing this distinctive and appealing visual feature.

Original Designs

At Square Bear Kids, we have a passion for creating our children's furniture. This commitment is especially true as we explore and develop new designs. From the start, our purpose is to develop designs that blend practicality with playful features that kids find fun and engaging. We embrace the significance the role of fun plays in this creative journey as we believe that designs which evoke these emotions within us are more likely to inspire those same feelings in children.

Computer-Driven Machining

CNC machining offers numerous benefits in the making of our furniture. With this advanced technology, the plywood components comprising our designs are accurately cut into kid-friendly curvy shapes from sheets of Baltic birch plywood. Each plywood component is cut to the exact specifications, allowing for better fit and alignment during assembly. This results in sturdier and more durable furniture that not only looks great but also provide a safe and enjoyable play experience for children.

Hand Finishing

We carefully sand before and between applying multiple coats of spray finish to every plywood component of our furniture. This step, although time-consuming and labor-intensive, is a crucial part of our process. When done with care and patience, the result produces suburb protection for the wood to increase its durability to extend its longevity. And the process also enhances the wood’s natural beauty by enhancing any unique grain patterns. Most importantly, this step evens out surface imperfections to create smooth touch surfaces that come in contact with a child’ delicate skin.
