FAQ

General

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR CLEANING?

Please use a dry to slightly damp cloth to clean the surfaces. Do not submerge the furniture in water as this will result in damage.

THERE ARE WOODEN PATCHES ON THE SURFACE OF MY FURNITURE. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG OR DEFECTIVE WITH THAT PART?

Baltic Birch plywood is made up of layers glued together, with one of the outer surfaces considered superior in appearance or the finish side. The other side may sometimes have patches used by the manufacturer to cover any imperfections. These patches are usually hard to spot, but we take care to place them in less noticeable areas when putting together the furniture. Depending on the situation, parts with patches can be positioned facing either inwards or outwards during assembly.

Assembly

I AM STRUGGLING TO TIGHTEN THE SMALL SCREWS. WHY AREN’T THEY THREADING INTO THE INSERTS EASILY?

Always make sure the screws are turning easily into the insert. Since the screws are short, they can be easily inserted at a slight angle, which may prevent them from threading properly into the insert. If you encounter resistance while threading, gently unthread and try again until the screw threads in smoothly. Avoid tightening if you feel resistance to prevent damaging the screw and metal insert.

HOW CAN I PREVENT THE PLYWOOD PARTS FROM BEING SCRATCHED AS I ASSEMBLE THE FURNITURE?

Baltic Birch plywood is a strong material but can get dented or scratched like other wood furniture. Assemble on carpet to avoid damage. Use blankets, pillows, or towels for protection and support during assembly.

THE TINY SCREWS ARE HARD FOR ME TO GRIP AND PLACE INTO THE HOLES WHILE PUTTING THE FURNITURE TOGETHER. DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS TO MAKE THE PROCESS EASIER?

We understand the small screws may be tricky to handle, but patience is key. One useful tip is to balance the screw on the hex key before swiftly guiding it into the insert. With practice, this method can streamline the assembly process, saving you time and reducing frustration.

IS IT OK TO USE A POWER TOOL FOR TIGHTENING THE SCREWS?

No, please DO NOT USE power tools. Using a power tool can tighten the screws too much causing the metal inserts to be loosened from the plywood. The hex key is best for putting together your furniture as it lets you know when the screw is tight enough. Unlike a power tool, the hex key helps you avoid overtightening.

It is not necessary for assembly, but a 1/8” Hex Ball End Driver is another hand tool option that can used and purchased at most hardware stores. See here. Customers feel it makes for easier inserting of the screws. If using this tool, we suggest using the hex key after to fully tighten each screw.
